Type Locality and Naming
Along the village of Chanak, Prishchekent District N.E. Minakova, 1941 (298, p.21, 23), identified as a suite.
Synonym: Chanak Series, Чанакская сер.
Lithology and Thickness
Red, gray clayey sandstones, sands, conglomerates, and clays with interlayers of limestones. Thickness 800-900m. G.A. Belenky (97) subdivided the Chanak Gr into lower and upper Chanak sub-suites, and later (96) into Kyzylatin Fm, Akdachin Fm, Dzhamsugum Fm and Syuksok Fm. (95; 433; 458).

Lower contact
Conformably overlies the Azatbash Fm
Upper contact
It is overlain by the Darbaza Fm
Regional extent
Prishchekent Chuli, Mansurata, Bogonale, Akdacha River, Kyzylata, Kyzyltal, Azatbash, Dzhamsugum and Poltoratsk uplifts, Tashkent Depression, spurs of the Chatkal Range.

Assigned to the upper Aptian – Santonian. In the schematic stratigraphic column, lower contact of Darbaza Fm lies at Turonian. Hence it is shown as upper Aptian – Turonian.
